Urrea is a and professor of creative writing at the University of Illinois Chicago. His memoir,ÌýNobody's Son: Notes from an American Life, received the American Book Award in 1999 and his nonfiction book,ÌýThe Devil’s Highway: A True Story, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
