The University of Colorado Boulder has paused its Critical Needs Hiring Program (CNHP) out of an abundance of caution and to ensure there are no ongoing gaps between university policy and the program’s implementation. A third party will conduct a full, independent and comprehensive review of the CNHP to confirm the processes are compliant with applicable laws. Its predecessor, the Faculty Diversity Action Plan, was sunsetted in 2024.

University statement on flyers in Norlin Library /today/2024/12/17/university-statement-flyers-norlin-library University statement on flyers in Norlin Library Nicole Mueksch Tue, 12/17/2024 - 12:50 Categories: University Statements

91Ƶ is aware that flyers were thrown off an interior balcony at Norlin Library on Friday, Dec. 13, at the same time that a “study in” was being held by the group Boulder Students for Justice in Palestine. The flyers called for an “immediate evacuation” of Norlin Library but also stated this was not a real evacuation notice, rather a simulation. Nonetheless, the flyers violated the university’s Campus Use of University Facilities policy on canvassing, and the 91Ƶ Police Department is investigating in conjunction with the Division of Student Affairs.

Any information regarding this incident should be reported to CUPD by calling the non emergency line at 303-492-6666 and referencing Case No. 2024-2540.

All students are subject to adhering to the 91Ƶ Student Code of Conduct. Any student found responsible for violating the Student Code of Conduct will be subject to appropriate sanctions.

91Ƶ has several robust processes for individuals to share concerns and request support, including several reporting options through CUPD, the Don't Ignore It website and anonymously through  When concerns are reported, they are evaluated and addressed through tailored processes depending on the involved populations.

Vandalism on campus—a university statement /today/2024/11/01/vandalism-campus-university-statement Vandalism on campus—a university statement Megan Maneval Fri, 11/01/2024 - 09:25 Categories: University Statements

In the early morning hours of Nov. 1, several buildings on the 91Ƶ campus were vandalized. The antisemitic messages contained in the vandalism violate the university’s policies on  and Campus Use of University Facilities, as well as Colorado law.

We are working as quickly as possible to remove the graffiti and proactively providing support resources to impacted groups on campus.

91Ƶ strongly condemns tactics and messages such as these, which target students, faculty and staff. This type of conduct is not a productive way to address the difficult conversations facing our society today in a respectful and civil manner.

If anyone affiliated with 91Ƶ feels they are the target of discrimination or harassment, please reach out to the Office of Victim Assistance. For a full list of resources and information available to students, faculty and staff, please visit this resources page.

The 91Ƶ Police Department is investigating. If you have any information about these crimes, please contact CUPD at 303-492-6666 and reference case number 2024-2190. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to CUPD.

Conflicts, world events and controversial moments happen that impact people on our campus every semester. Rather than taking positions and issuing administrative statements, in these moments the campus will instead:

  • Encourage opportunities to process and learn through the academic expertise of our faculty
  • Provide direct outreach to affected student and employee groups with offers of support
  • Activate resources for mental health and wellness, dialogue and community-building needs

The 91Ƶ administration may send communications and take positions on issues, incidents or other situations that affect core functions of the university.

Joint statement from chancellor, athletic director on NCAA antitrust lawsuits settlement /today/2024/05/23/joint-statement-chancellor-athletic-director-ncaa-antitrust-lawsuits-settlement Joint statement from chancellor, athletic director on NCAA antitrust lawsuits settlement Megan Maneval Thu, 05/23/2024 - 11:03 Categories: University Statements

91Ƶ has been working closely with our conference partners as well as the NCAA throughout the settlement negotiations in the pending antitrust cases. These are unprecedented times, and these decisions will have a seismic effect on the permanent landscape of collegiate athletics. While the settlement agreement is being finalized by the courts, which could take a significant amount of time, we will determine exactly how this will impact CU Athletics and, most importantly, our student athletes.

There are many questions that will be answered in the months to come, but every decision we make will be done transparently and in the best interest of our student athletes.

Chancellor

The issue of divestment of the University of Colorado’s financial assets is a complex one, and it falls under the purview of CU system leadership and the Board of Regents.

We encourage our students, faculty and others who are passionate about this issue to explore the details, engage constructively and continue to connect with the Board of Regents and leadership of the CU system.
